Are you ready to learn more about how you build out your entire literacy block and cater to all your students in a structured literacy approach? This workshop is delivered over 3 x 90 minute sessions and will take your literacy practice to the next level. You will deepen your understanding of Te Mātaiaho, learn how to design and deliver high-quality explicit literacy instruction, and refine your ability to respond to the needs of all learners through data-informed decisions.
You’ll Learn How to ...
- Bring the New Zealand Curriculum to life in your classroom by linking the big ideas and literacy progressions to everyday teaching.
- Use your data as a tool for identifying next teaching and learning steps.
- Use spelling as a responsive pathway to support and extend learners across Tier 1 instruction.
- Purposefully use a variety of text types, including read-alouds and shared novels, to grow student vocabulary and deepen knowledge across the curriculum.
- Know your learners, plan for the range in literacy needs in your room, and teach to student gaps and strengths, adjusting as you go based on what you see and hear.
